Architecture Equity Steering Committee hosts Dark Matter University in event series on social justice in design
With the help of a 2020 Graduate Division grant to support JEDI initiatives, the Committee hired five summer student researchers –Tya Abe, Emmanuel Carillo, Chrissie Chen, Wanning Liao and Rida Kamal– to organize an event to meet students’ interests in modes of centering social justice in architectural pedagogy and practice.

Urban greening research awarded NASA Equity and Environmental Justice Grant
CED is proud to announce that the inaugural NASA Equity and Environmental Justice Grant has been awarded to Professor of Landscape Architecture Iryna Dronova, DCRP Professor Emerita Karen Chapple, and DCRP Assistant Professor Zoé Hamstead for their proposal, “Where the Grass Grows Greener: The Impacts of Urban Greening on Housing Prices and Neighborhood Stability.”

Dr. Hosbey’s ethnographic research explores Black social and cultural life in the U.S. Gulf Coast and Mississippi Delta regions, focusing on the ways these communities articulate modes of citizenship that interrupt racial capitalism and environmental precarity.
