As part of the Fabriciation Shop or Digital Fabrication Lab students are authorized to use either the Shop Yard or Paint Booth. The process to use these facilities is to check in with a Mechanician in either area, they will verify your training and then unlock the gates for you to use the facilities. Expect them to ask about your task and specify which Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) you will be required to use.

Users of the Paint Booth are required to take the Paint Booth Training. Do not use CED's Paint Booth unless you have been instructed in its safe use and operation. Below are the procedures and policies related to Paint Booth use:

Spray Booth Emergencies

  • Report all emergencies to the Fabrication Managers or Mechanicians
  • First aid kits are located in the Shop and DFL
  • Eye wash and clean-up sink located in Shop
  • Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) are located in the Shop and DFL
  • The Booth will send an alarm should a fire start or explosion erupts

Spray Booth Hazards

  • Compressed air
  • Hazardous substances
  • Whipping hoses
  • Fire or explosions, or spontaneous combustion

Spray Booth Responsibilities
