William W. Wurster Dean of the College of Environmental Design Renee Y. Chow announced her decision to step down as dean at the end of her current five-year term on June 30, 2026.

New research from Assistant Professor of City & Regional Planning Max Buchholz published in PNAS suggests that large cities, with their high cost of living and large populations, may create strong barriers to Black and Latinx workers accessing good jobs with high levels of upward mobility, as compared to white workers. This research is part of Buchholz’s ongoing investigations into the causes of urban inequality.

Award from ACSA honors Associate Professor of Architecture Neyran Turan’s teaching of the Master of Architecture thesis seminar and studio sequence at UC Berkeley from 2017 to 2024, which was themed “Another Imagination—Another Practice.” Turan is currently the director of the Master of Architecture program.
