Jewel Nguyen’s initiation into the field of real estate development stemmed from her father, an aspiring developer and the founder of SC Planners, an Urban Planning company. Under her father’s guidance, she directly observed his pioneering development project aimed at alleviating housing shortages in Los Angeles, sparking her keen interest in the industry.
During her academic tenure at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), Jewel’s outstanding academic achievements were recognized when she graduated magna cum laude and received the honor of Outstanding Undergraduate Student from the College of Business. Being part of the Honors program opened up opportunities for research, leading to her thesis project, “Reimagining Urban Mobility: Transforming Los Angeles into a More Walkable Metropolis.” Through this endeavor, Jewel showcased her commitment to innovative urban development solutions. Her focus on enhancing pedestrian accessibility and urban mobility reflects her passion for fostering sustainable and vibrant communities. Jewel is driven to utilize her skills and knowledge as a developer to tackle pressing urban challenges and contribute to the creation of inclusive and resilient urban environments.
With a belief that housing is a fundamental human right, Jewel is committed to addressing the housing crisis in California and its underlying complexities, including issues related to drug dependency and mental health. Despite her youth, Jewel brings a unique blend of academic excellence, transferable skills, and a thirst for experiential learning, positioning her as a promising member of the Emerging Development Leaders program at MRED+D.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Jewel loves to travel and immerse herself in diverse cultures. Her passion for travel and admiration for picturesque landscapes stem from her time as an exchange student in Madrid for six months during her undergraduate studies. These experiences, coupled with her eagerness to contribute to the dynamic community of the Bay Area and Los Angeles, serve as a driving force in her endeavors.
