Beijing-based architect Zhu Pei (MUD 2000) talks to Arch Daily about the principles behind his practice of architecture as an art.

Nantou City Guesthouse, Shenzhen, China, by Neri&Hu Design and Research Office was named a winner of a 2024 AZ Award in the category of Adaptive Reuse: Incision. Both Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu received their BAs in architecture from Berkeley and they returned in 2023 to serve as Friedman Visiting Professors of Practice in the Department of Architecture.

The Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture announced Cathi Ho Schar, FAIA, (MArch 2003) as the organization’s 2024–2025 president. Ho Schar is an associate professor at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa School of Architecture and the inaugural director of the University of Hawaiʻi Community Design Center, a public-interest-driven public sector hybrid practice.

We’re proud to announce that Patricia Algara (MLA 2007), Michael D. Murphy (MLA 1968), Patsy Eubanks Owens (MLA 1987), Dale Schafer (MLA 1991), and Judith Stilgenbauer (MLA 1998) have been elected to the 2024 class of fellows of the American Society of Landscape Architects.

The College of Environmental Design Distinguished Alumni Award honors alums who have exhibited outstanding public service, in its broadest sense, throughout their careers. This year, we are pleased to honor Gloria Bruce, Ricardo Capretta, Dorothée Imbert, and Stanley Saitowitz.
