Richmond’s community violence prevention program a success, new study shows
The new study, co-authored by Professor of City & Regional Planning Jason Corburn, finds that the city’s program led to a 61% decline in gun violence. Corburn, who also holds an appointment in the School of Public Health, is the author, most recently, of Advancing Peace: Ending Urban Gun Violence Through the Power of Redemptive Love.

Department of Architecture announces visiting faculty and fellows
The Department of Architecture has named its visiting faculty and fellows for the fall 2026 semester, appointing Casper Mork-Ulnes as Friedman Visiting Professor of Practice, Luke Ogrydziak and Zoë Prillinger as Esherick Endowed Professors, and Laura Sánchez Carrasco and Íñigo Cobeta as UPM Visiting Professors of Practice. In addition, the inaugural Creedon Fellow, Julie Riley, will continue in this role for the coming academic year.

City & Regional Planning welcomes Ken Salo, Joshua Muldavin as visiting professors
The Department of City & Regional planning is pleased to announce the appointments of Ken E. Salo as Theodore B. and Doris Shoong Lee Chair in Real Estate Law and Urban Planning and Joshua Muldavin as a visiting professor. Both bring deep experience and expertise in global urban issues: Muldavin is an Asia expert and Salo focuses on international law and urban governance in racialized subaltern urban collectives in South Africa, Northeast Brazil, and the American Midwest.

Landscape architecture major Kamerin Creighton named Haas Scholar
We’re proud to share the news that landscape architecture major Kamerin Creighton (BA 2027) has been selected for a prestigious Haas Scholarship. With Associate Professor of Landscape Architecture & Environmental Planning Karl Kullman as her mentor, she will explore how the design, materiality, and spatial placement of George Floyd Square in Minneapolis reshapes collective historical memory and its surrounding urban fabric.
