Summer is in full swing with fledglings learning to fly and some species may try for a possible second brood. We’ll be looking for resident breeders and fledglings. Hummingbirds will still be fighting and nesting; the garden should still have some blooms; the skulky Swainson's Thrush should still be there.
Blake Garden is a landscape laboratory maintained by the Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning Department. With many horticulture and native plants and 90+ documented bird species, the garden is a model for many sustainable practices such as composting, rainwater-catchment, and apiculture.
Trails are well-maintained. Bring water, hat, snacks, binoculars. Scopes also welcome.
Meet in the parking lot. Birding will last approximately 2.5 hours.
