Donate to the Student Technology Assistance Fund
Student access to CED’s state-of-the-art environmental design software, Fabrication Shop, and 3D printing can cost up to $1,000 annually. These fees are not covered in a student’s financial aid package. This presents CED’s most significant equity issue, given that 38 percent of our undergraduates are Pell Grant recipients and 60 percent require financial assistance. Financial barriers to technology prevent CED’s low-income students from hands-on, creative, and collaborative learning. Without unfettered access to the technologies central to their education, CED students miss career and skill development opportunities that are easily afforded by their peers who have better access to financial resources.
With your support, the college will meet the needs of our students under great financial strain and dramatically reduce inequities in environmental design education.

Contributions to this annual fund can be put to use immediately to help give our talented students and researchers the resources they need.

CED’s Department of City & Regional Planning envisions bold, new urban futures and shapes tomorrow’s leaders — unleashing the creativity of students who can contribute to sustainability, design excellence, social and environmental justice, economic vitality, and community engagement.
CED also serves a higher share of historically underrepresented students than any other academic unit on campus as well as many first-generation college students. Thus, contributions make a meaningful investment in educating diverse leaders and catalyzing positive change.

The CED Diversity Fund for Student Support helps us ensure that the most promising, deserving, and diverse group of students — regardless of background and means — can afford to earn a degree while enjoying financial security. The college offers many initiatives under the banner of diversity, seeking to foster an environment where faculty and students engage in critical examination of the intersection of race and ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation, power and privilege, poverty and inequality, and other aspects of identity that shape and are shaped by architecture, landscape, and planning.
