The prestigious Silver SPUR Awards recognize outstanding individuals whose achievements exemplify the highest aspirations of the San Francisco Bay Area. Bonner is an an architect and planner known for leading the redevelopment of the city of Emeryville.

On July 5, 2020, 60 Minutes re-aired the story of architecture alumnus and former CED lecturer, Chris Downey— whose career in architecture did anything but halt despite the loss of his sight from a 2008 brain tumor surgery.
