Spring 2017, Arch 202 – René Davids
In the Quechuan language, the word
huaca can mean a place, object,
shrine, ceremonial complex, or natural
feature representing something
revered, typically a monument of
some kind associated with a religious
ritual. In Lima today, the term
“huaca” refers to the numerous surviving
archaeological remains of
pre-Hispanic civilizations found in
every district of the Peruvian capital.
Spring Semester's 2017 M. Arch 202 Studio
sought to enhance the preservation
prospects of huacas by linking them
with a network of community resources,
services, and open spaces.
