LD ARCH Studio Travel: French Polynesia 2005
In 2005 Professor Tim Duane took students to a research station on the island of Moorea to evaluate the impacts of land use on marine ecosystems and water quality and to recommend changes in land-use practices. Students studied the relationship between land-use practices and impacts on the coral reef ecosystems. They assessed current conditions, analyzed future build-out under the existing land-use plans, evaluated sediment and nutrient-management practices for land development and piggery operations, and estimated the risks of golf-course development on marine-protected areas.
