LD ARCH 257 Studio Travel: Paris 2004
As part of their Spring 2004 LD ARCH 257 seminar, "Post-Industrial Landscapes", Professors Judith Stilgenbauer and Peter Bosselmann took a group of 12 LAEP graduate students to Paris and the Ruhr District in Germany to study the new parks, innovative housing developments, and cultural facilities that have come about as a result of the conversion of former industrial land. The seminar focused on two very different European settings: former factory sites in the center of Paris, and former heavy industry in Germany's Ruhr valley. The purpose of the study tour was to evaluate the role of design in these recently transformed landscapes.
