Fall 2016 — ENV DES 1 — de Monchaux
How are cities made? Why are gardens necessary? Why are the things webuild the largest driver of environmental change? And what can we doabout it? This course explored how to start to be a designer, not just ofdrawings and objects, but also buildings, landscapes and urban spaces; And not just in isolation, but in the complex web of ecological andman-made systems which makes up our shifting environment. Thestudents were also introduced to how practitioners from antiquity to thepresent have thought and written about the problems designers face today;how to draw, how to build, and how to make meaningful places in aconstantly changing world.
