ARCH 262 Travel: Trondheim, Norway
A collaborative workshop led by Professor Pasi Aalto of the Department of Architectural Design, History and Technology at Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and Professor René Davids of the Department of Architecture at UC Berkeley brought together CED's Arch 262 and teams of NTNU students in Trondheim, Norway for the design and fabrication of a footbridge approximately six meters long at Heggmoen Nature Park in the Municipality of Bodø in Nordland County, Norway, just north of the Arctic Circle. The footbridge is part of a an experimental research project for a system of replicable, supportive infrastructure elements for non-motorized trails, developed utilizing parametric modeling, CNC machines, locally available wood and customized pre-fabrication adapted and transported as required to as diverse sites climates and cultures as the northern Norwegian and the central Californian coastlines.
