Emerging technologies and urban futures; STS; transportation and land-use planning; urban policy.

Urban planning should not only make use of new technologies; it should also anticipate and govern the urban transformations they produce. I approach emerging technologies as both instruments of planning and forces that can reorganize mobility, public space, institutions, and everyday life. My goal is to connect technological change with spatial planning and public policy, enabling cities to shape these transitions rather than merely react to them.

Zeyun Deng is a PhD student in City & Regional Planning whose research examines the relationship between emerging technologies and urban change. Deng is particularly interested in how emerging technological systems may reshape transportation, governance, and everyday urban life. Deng's work also considers how planning institutions and public policies can anticipate, guide, and govern these transformations, as well as how new tools can support urban research and planning practice.
