Oliver Katz
Business Development Manager, Suffolk Construction
Project Manager, Boylston Properties
Prior to starting my MRED+D degree, I worked for a Boston-based general contractor, Suffolk Construction. I wanted to build on my construction experience by gaining a holistic approach to the built environment. I was interested in learning about the entire development cycle, from financial feasibility and market analysis, to design, construction, and building stabilization. I researched numerous degree programs and found that Berkeley’s MRED+D aims to give students that well-rounded approach, with a unique emphasis on design, equity, and sustainability.
My goal is to be a design-driven developer, working with numerous stakeholders to create vibrant communities for a diverse group of end users. The MRED+D program goes beyond the traditional approach and equips students with the tools needed to become a Triple Bottom Line developer.
Our cohort represents professionals from all facets of the development process including architects, planners, engineers, construction managers, and financial analysts. This enables us to learn from one another in the classroom and allows for really rich discussions. While we come from diverse backgrounds and experiences, we share a common goal: to improve the built environment.
