Joanne Straley

Directs departmental administrative and service operations: finance and budgets, human resources, facilities, student services, support of teaching programs. Develops goals and plans for administrative, academic, instructional and outreach programs. Supervises department staff.

Joanne Straley brings over 20 years of higher education administration. Previously, she held the positions on campus as the department manager of Plant and Microbial Biology in the Rausser College of Natural Resources and the senior director of Student Services in the Graduate School of Journalism. Before returning to California, she worked at Columbia University in New York City as an administrative and program coordinator in the School of the Arts, Writing Division. Joanne grew up in Southern California and holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in Philosophy, English, and Creative Writing.
