Joanna Hossack
Joanna received her Bachelor of Arts in Law and Society from UC Santa Barbara in 2009 and her JD from UC Hastings in 2014. From 2015 to 2021, she worked as an attorney in the cannabis space, focusing on local land use, state licensing, and corporate matters for clients across the supply chain throughout California. With a longstanding interest in environmental issues, Joanna served as a staff editor of the West-Northwest Journal of Environmental Law and Policy while attending UC Hastings and in 2019 published an article in the Hastings Environmental Law Journal regarding water law as it pertains to the cultivation of cannabis in California. Since 2021 she has worked as a Specialist at UC Berkeley, investigating the impact of county level ordinances regulating the cultivation of cannabis. Additional research interests include sustainable economic development, the interaction of international, federal, state, and local laws, and policy development for emerging industries.
