Aleks Baharlo
BIOGRAPHY
Aleks Baharlo is the Executive Director of the Abbey Master of Real Estate Development + Design program. In this capacity he articulates the vision, strategic direction and objectives of the program and directs curriculum planning and implementation. For over 15 years, Baharlo taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels in environmental design, architecture, and real estate development at USC, UC Berkeley, and UCLA. Most recently, Baharlo was adjunct professor at The Price School of Policy, Planning and Development at USC (2018-2024).
Baharlo is a real estate development executive, architect and builder with over 30 years of experience. He serves as president and managing partner of a privately held development and investment platform based in Los Angeles with a nationwide industrial, multi-family, and residential portfolio. In his prior role as executive vice president for Larwin, one of the largest private development companies in Los Angeles, Baharlo managed the land acquisition, forward planning, and operations departments towards completion of award-winning projects, including several master planned communities, urban infill housing, and single-family detached communities, totaling over 3000 units across California.
Baharlo served as a member of the Los Angeles Urban Land Institute Housing Committee and on the Political Action Committee and Governing Board of the Building Industry Association of Southern California, which included a two-year term as president of the Los Angeles Chapter. Baharlo also practiced as an architect and builder in the Bay Area and was the founding partner of East Bay Design and Architecture in Berkeley, CA.
