New research on climate resilience, environmental justice to be presented at CED
Can architecture be a regenerative, instead of extractive, process? Can we address both the climate and housing crises with low-carbon plant-based materials like hempcrete and mass timber? Can we shape agricultural regions for both the health of the planet and the benefit of farmworkers? Does corporate ownership of trailer parks limit residents’ ability to adapt to climate change? How can real-time mapping of air pollution help communities protect their health — and impact policy decisions? Can new approaches to wood construction both prevent wildfires and accelerate post-disaster rebuilding in fire zones?
These are some of the research questions that CED faculty have been exploring as part of the Lau Grants for Just Climate Futures. This new program is aimed at accelerating climate solutions by supporting innovative research in environmental design.
CED invites you to learn more about the Just Climate Futures research projects at two events: an exhibition on view in the Bauer Wurster Hall Gallery between April 3 and 13 and an evening of faculty presentations on Wednesday, April 3, at 6:30 p.m. in 112 Bauer Wurster Hall.
