INFORMATION FOR GRADUATING STUDENTS

Students graduating from CED this spring should continue to check their Berkeley email addresses throughout the semester for important information and deadlines.

Eligibility

You may participate in the spring 2026 commencement ceremony if you have an expected graduation term (EGT) of fall 2025, spring 2026, summer 2026 or fall 2026. Your EGT is the term in which you will be finishing your final requirement(s). You can confirm that your EGT is accurate in Cal Central. If your EGT needs to be changed, meet with a CED academic advisor who can guide you through the process of changing your EGT in Cal Central.

Review CED’s Prepare for Graduation web page.

REGISTRATION + TICKETS

Registering for commencement begins with completing an exit survey that will be sent to graduating students via email at the beginning of April. In order to confirm your participation at graduation and reserve two free guest tickets, you must complete both the exit survey and the commencement registration form that is linked at the bottom of the exit survey.

The deadline to register for commencement is Friday, May 8.

All graduates may reserve two complimentary tickets to the CED Commencement ceremony; graduates do not need a ticket for themselves. Registered students only may pick up their complimentary tickets from 117 Bauer Wurster Hall beginning Thursday, April 9. The deadline to pick up your two complimentary tickets is Wednesday, May 13.

You may purchase an unlimited number of additional guest tickets directly from Cal Performances at a cost of $20 each. See ticket link below.

Regalia

The deadline to order regalia (i.e., cap and gown) for in-store pick-up at the ASUC bookstore is Thursday, March 26. Commencement regalia ordered after March 26 will incur a shipping fee. Regalia is not required to participate in the CED Commencement ceremony.

Order Regalia

All undergraduates are eligible to borrow a gown from the Educational Opportunity Program’s Grad Gown Lending Program. It also lends a limited quantity of graduate commencement regalia.

INFORMATION FOR GUESTS

We recommend guests arrive at 8 a.m. to allow time to enter the theater and find seats. The Greek Theatre is an outdoor venue; ceremonies take place rain or shine. Be prepared for cold and fog and heat and sun: all conditions are regularly experienced during the course of the morning ceremony. We recommend dressing in layers and bringing a sunhat. UMBRELLAS ARE NOT PERMITTED. Most seating is on stone bleachers, so you may want to bring cushions or low-backed stadium seats (lawn chairs not permitted).

All guests (including babies and children) require a ticket to attend CED Commencement Your graduate receives two complimentary tickets and additional tickets may be purchased from Cal Performances online, by phone at 510.642.9988, or in person at the Zellerbach Hall box office.
