BIOGRAPHY
Ian Miley is design principal at Type Five and a lecturer in architecture. Previously, he was a design critic in architecture at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design, where he taught graduate courses at the GSD and undergraduate courses at Harvard College Department of History of Art and Architecture. He has also taught the Rhode Island School of Design and Northeastern University’s College of Arts, Media, and Design. Miley was a 2020-2021 Irving Fellow at the GSD. He has been an invited critic at UC Berkeley, Harvard GSD, MIT, RISD, SCI-Arc, Kent State University, Northeastern University, and Tufts University. Miley studied architecture at the GSD where he received a M. Arch I AP with Distinction, the James Templeton Kelley Thesis Prize, and the AIA Henry Adams Medal. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture with high honors from the UC Berkeley College of Environmental Design where he was awarded the departmental citation.
