SPRING 2021, ARCH 100D – QUARRY LINK

To connect the quarry site with its immediate environs, the studio will explore strategies to integrate it with the surrounding urban fabric. Students will incorporate a public elevator and a bridge, or buildings which includes these functions; a mineralogy/geology; a hostel for visiting scholars; and a Makers Space loosely modelled on the Autodesk Pier 9 Workshop in San Francisco where creation rather than consumption is the focus. The workshop will contain a digital fabrication facility, woodworking and metalworking shops, lasercutting and printing machines, an electronics workshop, a commercial test kitchen, and an industrial sewing center, and more.
