2025 AIA International Firm Award goes to alum Kris Yao
KRIS YAO | ARTECH, a firm founded 40 years ago by UC Berkeley alum Kris Yao (MArch 1978), Hon. FAIA, was honored this year with the AIA International Firm Award.
This prestigious honor recognizes firms led by AIA members based outside the United States for their outstanding achievements in design excellence, innovation, and global influence. The Asia-based firm has offices in Taipei and Shanghai.
The AIA International jury commended KRIS YAO | ARTECH “for excellence in architectural practice, in recognition of exceptional contributions to the profession and society through a body of innovative and emotive design work spanning cultural, educational, commercial, and spiritual typologies, which prioritizes human experience in harmony with natural and cultural contexts.”
Yao received a Distinguished Alumni Award from the College of Environmental Design in 2005.
