ARCHITECTURE LECTURE: JOE HALLIGAN | ASSEMBLE
MATERIAL WORLD
Tyvek curtains, rubble dash walls and BBQ door handles: Assemble co-founder Joe Halligan will talk about the importance of materiality within the collective’s work.
As one of the 18 members that founded the architecture, art and design collective in 2010, Joe Halligan has overseen projects including The Brutalist Playground with Simon Terril at the Royal Institute of British Architecture, a travelling exhibition for Italian and Brazilian architect Lina Bo Bardi and Granby Four Streets an ongoing community-led initiative in Liverpool.

ABOUT ASSEMBLE
Assemble is a multi-disciplinary collective working across architecture, design and art that champions an interdependent and collaborative working practice seeking to actively involve the public as both participant and collaborator in the on-going realization of the work.
Founded in 2010 to undertake a single self-built project, Assemble has since delivered a diverse and award-winning body of work, whilst retaining a democratic and co-operative working method that enables built, social and research-based work at a variety of scales, both making things and making things happen. Their projects range from architectural installations to arts venues and public spaces, among many others.
THIS LECTURE IS PRESENTED BY ROOM 1000, AND IT IS PART OF THE SPRING 2019 BERKELEY ARCHITECTURE LECTURE SERIES. OPEN TO ALL!
