ROMA Design Group was honored at the 2013 Partners for Livable Communities annual awards ceremony with the Investors in America Award, given for their outstanding dedication to beautifying the American landscape while making a positive impact on neighborhoods, communities and cities. The Investors in America Award honors groups and individuals who use enterprise, vision and creative public and private partnerships to bring new civic assets to cities.
Bonnie Fisher (M.L.A. 1980) is Principal of San Francisco-based ROMA Design Group with Boris Dramov, and the interdisciplinary design firm of architects, landscape architects and urban planners was recognized for revitalizing declining urban areas and creating more livable and sustainable communities.
ROMA Design Group has become known for numerous award-winning international and local projects, including the Santa Monica Third Street Promenade and Civic Center, the Bahrain U.S. Embassy in Manama and the redevelopment of Suisun City, California. In 2000, ROMA Design Group won an international architectural design competition to design the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial in Washington, D.C.
Bonnie has been recognized for her excellence as a landscape architect, educator and author over the course of her career, and in particular for her planning and design of urban waterfronts and the public realm. She is a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects and played a leading role in the transformation of the San Francisco urban waterfront after the demolition of the Embarcadero Freeway.
