Our LAEP Diversity + Representation Taskforce (DRT) is excited to collaborate with CED Students of Color (CEDSOC) this year to expand the Peer Review Program into our MLA program, in which prospective students (1st generation and students of color being prioritized) have the option to be paired with current MLA students to have their statements of purpose and portfolio reviewed.
As part of this goal, we want to help prospective students by providing peer reviews of statements to help applicants better communicate their skills and experience through their application materials.
The interested applicant will be paired with a current Masters student, who will review their personal statement and answer any general questions to the best of their knowledge about the program. Please note that this peer review does not guarantee admission into the program and all information will be kept confidential. All reviewers are current students who are volunteering their time. They do not represent nor have they been trained by the Graduate Admissions Committee.
To participate in the peer review, please complete the interest form by October 15th, but the sooner the better! Applicants will be paired with a current student by November 23rd. Depending on the number of interested applicants and student volunteers available, we cannot guarantee that all essays will be reviewed, but we fully encourage you to apply.
