The backbone of Heartwood Preserve Greenways and Stormwater Masterplan, is a purposeful progression of sculpted water vessels that display and cleanse massive amounts of water and mitigate flooding.
Fusing infrastructure and art, the design defines and preserves approximately 150 acres of open space as a greenway system, with 14 miles of trails, that restores native prairie and wetland ecologies and offers a timeless respite for contemplation and recreation.
With the support and close collaboration with Applied Underwriters Insurance Company (AUI), Studios Architecture, HBA and the City of Omaha, construction of the project began in the spring of 2019.
