Call For Submissions
GROUND UP Journal
02 October 2013
GROUND UP, the student journal of UC Berkeley's Department of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning, is inviting submissions for Issue 3: Here. Entries should explore what it means to be Here. For more information, visit the journal's website.
GROUND UP is an annual print and web publication intended to stimulate thought, discussion, visual exploration and substantive speculation about emerging landscape issues affecting contemporary praxis. The journal invites a dialogue over a critical theme arising from the tension between contemporary landscape architecture, ecology and pressing cultural issues, and is intended as a discursive platform to explore concepts grounded in local issues with global relevance. GROUND UP has recently been announced the recipient of the 2013 Communications Honor Award by the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA).
Must be printable media up to 2500 words with accompanying graphics. Shorter entries of 500-1000 words are highly encouraged, as are design proposals, either speculative or built. Videos for the website and novel forms of written and artistic expression are also encouraged. Must be previously unpublished, and presented in complete form as an 8 ½” x 11″ PDF. Submissions will be accepted on a rolling basis from October 2, 2013 until January 5, 2014.
