
Exploratorium sets 'Net-Zero' energy goal

On Wednesday April 17th the Exploratorium will open its doors to the public from its new home on the Embarcadero. The Pier 15 Exploratorium boasts an impressive line of upgrades that will draw millions of visitors per year. The new site features a nine-acre campus on the waterfront with a host of new exhibits and artworks. The museum's principal designer EHDD, led by Chuck Davis (DAA and BArch '55, Richard Feldman, and visiting lecturer Marc L'Italien, was committed to the Exploratorium's goal of attaining a "Net-Zero" energy certification. Through a unique heating and cooling system the entire building will function without using outsides sources of power and send no carbon emissions.
