SFGATE -- Donald Leigh Hardison FAIA passed away on September 17, 2012. A celebration service will be heald at First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley, Channing at Dana, on Oct. 12, 2pm.
Hardison graduate from the University of California, Berkeley School of Architecture in 1938. After serving as a naval architect during WWII he founded Hardison & Komatsu Architects of Richmond and San Francisco (known today as HKIT Architects, Oakland). He is a prominent architect known in the Bay Area for his work in designing schools, churches, multi-family, student, and senior housing. Some of his works include the UC Berkeley Student Union Complex and Zellerbach Hall. He remained active in the Richmond Art Center, Richmond Rotary, Cal Alumni, and Richmond Museum of History.
