Don Hisaka FAIA, one of America's most respected architects, passed away on Wednesday, February 20 at the home in he designed and built in Berkeley. In 1950 he earned his B.A. in Architecture from CED. Thereafter he earned a Master's degree from Harvard University with a Fulbright Hays Fellowship and Wheelwright Fellowship. He opened his practice in 1960 in Cleveland, OH. His works include academic, office, and retail buildings as well as private homes. Hisaka is cited in over 70 leading publications and has been honored with over 50 design awards. In 1992 Hisaka returned to CED as a Friedman professor in the architecture department.
