HB4 (2019) PARTICIPANTS
Assistant Professor of Landscape Architecture & Environmental Planning Iryna Dronova will be departing for a one-month expedition to Antarctica as a part of the international leadership training program for women in STEMM called Homeward Bound. She was selected into a team of ~100 other women from 33 countries representing cohort #4.
Homeward Bound is a transformational leadership initiative for women with a background in STEMM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics, medicine). The purpose of the program is to "to lead and influence decision making as it shapes our planet" and particularly promotes women leadership in global responses and policies around climate change. Additionally, there is an emphasis on the Antarctica region because it is showing the fastest responses to some of the global sustainability problems we currently face. Antarctica offers an unparalleled opportunity to observe first hand the influence of human activities on the environment and provide critical insights into the global-scale change required.
