College of Environmental Design Professor of Architecture and Principal at IwamotoScott Architects Lisa Iwamoto and Professor Emeritus of Architecture and Principal of Natoma Architects Stanley Saitowitz were guests on last week’s issue of “City Visions,” an hour-long segment discussing urban issues on San Francisco’s public radio station, KALW.
Along with the San Francisco Chronicle’s urban design critic John King, Professors Iwamoto and Saitowitz discussed the year in architecture, looking at San Francisco’s changing urban landscape and the most notable -- and controversial -- development projects of 2017.
The panel discussion, which included input from listeners, asked: Are any of San Francisco’s new buildings architecturally significant? Can architecture be used to help the city's social problems? And how is all this new construction fitting in with San Francisco's existing architectural ecosystem?
