Amanda Eaken (M.C.P. ‘05), deputy director of sustainable communities at the Natural Resources Defense Council, recently received two prestigious awards for her leadership in shaping California's smart growth future. In May, the Southern California Association of Governments awarded Amanda with the President's Sustainability Leadership Award and in March she received the San Francisco Business Times’ “40 Under 40” award, recognizing influential young professionals across the spectrum of businesses who are helping shape the Bay Area’s future. Amanda leads NRDC’s efforts to implement California’s Senate Bill 375, the nation’s first law to link climate change with transportation and land use.
