Aerial Artistry: The New Bay Bridge East Span From Above
SFO Museum, Terminal 3
10 October 2013
An exhibit at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) by aerial photographer Barrie Rokeach (M.A. Design, '74) showcases a collection of his stunning images of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge's recent construction. Aerial Artistry: The New Bay Bridge East Span From Above runs from September through December 2013 at SFO, Terminal Three. Rokeach's Bay Bridge aerial photographs are also currently on exhibit at the Oakland Airport, Terminal One and at the Sawtooth Building adjacent to the Bay Bridge Toll Plaza, Pier 7, Oakland.
Taken mostly from the cockpit of a Cessna between 2009 and 2013, Rokeach's breathtaking panoramas and close-ups capture the intricate processes of the Bay Bridge's new eastern span construction. The artist-pilot has been a technical master of camera and plane for over thirty years, operating both tools simultaneously to capture the San Francisco Bay Area's landmarks from angles and perspectives 1,000 feet above the bridge.
