JC Mansilla is a visiting PhD candidate from Sorbonne-Nouvelle University in Paris. His research interest lies in developing sociological understandings and comparative perspectives in the urban experience of low-income communities in larger cities of Europe and Latin America. He is member of the Institute of Research in Cinematographic and Audiovisual Matters (IRCAV) in France. His fieldwork research is supported by the Labex ICCA, a research program funded by the French government, and Casa Tres Patios, Medellín. He is co-founder of Last Focus Visual Research Network (www.lastfocus.com/juan/), a French academic organization focus in international visual studies research.
