INFO SESSION
CED students -- join our own Associate Dean and professor Renee Chow at an info session on the NEW summer abroad in Hong Kong: Engineered Landscapes with the Program Director and staff from Cal Summer Abroad (see the attached flyer.)
ABOUT THIS PROGRAM
Travel to the bustling city of Hong Kong and analyze how cities’ infrastructures, old and new, are adapting to cultural, environmental, and global changes. With changes in density, ways of living, climate, resources, and rise in sea levels, how do we prepare for future change?
- Evaluate historical and contemporary maps of city infrastructure.
- Conduct field surveys to explore the relationship between engineered landscapes and their experience in the city.
- Speculate on how to support older infrastructures through neighborhood scale interventions.
- Visualize infrastructural connections to contemporary urban form and ways of life.
- Analyze how engineered landscapes affect the experience of cities as well as the growth of cities.
Program Details are available here.
The Info session will be held in 901 Wurster Hall (top of the Wurster Tower.)
Travel Dates:
July 20 – August 8, 2014
