Please join our deans and faculty for an introduction to CED and its vital and vibrant undergraduate programs in architecture, landscape architecture, urban studies, and sustainable environmental design.

College of Environmental Design Open House, Tours, and Exhibits
Learn about Berkeley's architecture, landscape architecture, urban studies, and sustainable environmental design programs. See student work, learn about student groups, and take a tour of our building and studios. Wurster Hall provides a rich environment for the CED community: world-class library and design archives, research facilities, simulation and prototyping labs, fabrication shop, digital fabrication lab, galleries, and café.

Fabrication Shop Open House
Put on a pair of safety glasses and tour this high-energy, 3,000-square-foot facility that's well equipped for model-making, woodworking, metalworking, plastic fabrication and concrete casting. It's used during studio courses requiring the modeling of three-dimensional designs. See students or staff working on projects, the tools and materials library, and fabrication demonstrations!

Digital Fabrication Lab Open House: Using Technology in Design
The 1,500-square-foot Digital Fabrication Lab combines traditional shop fabrication methods with computer-controlled equipment. The focus is on taking designs created in computers and moving them into the material world using specialized output devices such as plastic 3D printers, desktop metal mills, laser cutters, blade cutters or CNC routers.

Blake Garden Open House
Enjoy a stroll through this 10.5-acre, formal garden and landscape-architecture teaching facility overlooking the San Francisco Bay. Join the free tour at 2pm. Don't miss the Create-with-Nature Zone for kids. Partial wheelchair accessibility; plenty of parking. Driving directions are at the information table in the Wurster Hall lobby. Exhibit: Berkeley Circus
Award-winning CED student work will be on display from the annual Berkeley Circus, a celebration of the accomplishments of the CED community.

Exhibit: Designs from a Distance
Designing for a country not one’s own often results in projects that reflect geo-political and economic factors. Diplomacy, colonialism, post-war reconstruction, and natural resources are a few of the forces influencing the clients commissioning design projects. This exhibit features design and planning projects worldwide by local and international architects and landscape architects held by the Environmental Design Archives. Curator: Waverly Lowell

Artist & Pop-Up Books and Coloring at ENVI Library
The Environmental Design Library has a large collection of unique artists books and interesting architectural pop-up books. This is a rare opportunity for the public to touch, turn pages and explore artists books that are too often locked in exhibit cases. This is a stop on the Library Passport! Hosted by Librarian David Eifler and Library Technical Processing Lead Jennifer Osgood.

Kids, Build a Box City!
Help build a city and learn how cities are planned, or unplanned; what makes a quality city; and how citizens (yes, kids too!) can participate in the improvement of the built environment. Parent or guardian supervision is required. Hosted by CED Student Organizations.

Sustainable Environmental Design Major Information Session
Come learn about the newest major in the College of Environmental Design! Sustainable Environmental Design (SED) recognizes the emergent, multidisciplinary field of sustainability science, and offers students a critical understanding of the sustainability challenges facing urban regions in California and around the globe. This major will equip students with the technical, analytic and design tools key to devising creative solutions.
