Sustainable Environmental Design Major Information Session
Come learn about the newest major in the College of Environmental Design! Sustainable Environmental Design (SED) recognizes the emergent, multidisciplinary field of sustainability science, and offers students a critical understanding of the sustainability challenges facing urban regions in California and around the globe. This major will equip students with the technical, analytic and design tools key to devising creative solutions.

Collective Chemistry: Reconstructing the Status Quo
Join CED Students of Color for a special College of Environmental Design exhibition and interactive workshop displaying student projects that engage with how people, places and things affect our interactions with space. This workshop showcases diverse CED student voices and invites you to build a lego model city that reimagines our shared community spaces. Please enjoy some delicious cultural food!

College of Environmental Design Open House, Tours, and Exhibits
CED Admissions Ambassadors and student leaders answer questions about the undergraduate programs in architecture, landscape architecture, urban studies, and sustainable environmental design. See student work, learn about student groups, and take a tour of the CED building and design studios. Designed by architecture faculty, Wurster provides a rich environment for the CED community: a world-class library, design archives, research facilities, computer labs, simulation and prototyping labs, fabrication shop, Digital Fabrication Lab, galleries, and a café. Wurster Hall Tours at 10am, 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm. Meet at the bottom of the main stairs in the First Floor Lobby.

Fabrication Shop Open House
Put on a pair of safety glasses and tour this high-energy, 3,000-square-foot facility that's well equipped for model-making, woodworking, metalworking, plastic fabrication and concrete casting. It's used during studio courses requiring the modeling of three-dimensional designs. See students or staff working on projects, the tools and materials library, and fabrication demonstrations! Digital Fabrication Lab Open House: Using Technology in Design
The 1,500-square-foot Digital Fabrication Lab combines traditional shop fabrication methods with computer-controlled equipment. The focus is on taking designs created in computers and moving them into the material world using specialized output devices such as plastic 3D printers, desktop metal mills, laser cutters, blade cutters or CNC routers. Blake Garden Open House
Enjoy a stroll through this 10.5-acre, formal garden and landscape-architecture teaching facility overlooking the San Francisco Bay. Join the free tour at 2pm. Exhibit: How the Body Makes Marks
How does your body-mind influence your drawings and designs? This exhibition of student drawings explores the relationship of somatic experience to Body Conscious Design, a field developed by Professor Galen Cranz, who will celebrate retirement from 43 years of teaching social-cultural architecture this spring. Curated by Chelsea Rushton.

Exhibit: Journey Through the Works of Carme Pinos
2018 Berkeley-Rupp Professor Carme Pinos starts with the concept of ‘universal connection’ where everything is linked; an action rebounds off another, transforming and generating a new one. Her position is one of dialogue, seeing architecture as a catalyst for relationships, a place of intersections and encounters, where people identify as part of a community, but also belong to universality.

Exhibit: Hollywood & Vine
See the homes of the STARS!! Or more precisely, designs for the homes and gardens of film stars, directors, screen writers, and designers including Glenn Ford, Clint Eastwood, Marion Davies, Alfred Hitchcock, Billy Wilder, and Saul Bass. This exhibit, curated by Environmental Design Archives curator Waverly Lowell, also pays tribute to the California wine industry’s influence on the designed environment.

The Environmental Design Library has a large collection of unique artists books and interesting architectural pop-up books.
