Mark Jensen, FAIA practices at the confluence of art, architecture, and building technology. Working across typologies, scales, and budgets, his poetic yet practical responses to program and context reassert the architect’s direct role in shaping culture.
As the founder of Jensen Architects, Mark has pursued his passion for the art and science of architecture. In embracing “design thinking” and applying the values of inquisitiveness and collaboration, he has produced a body of work recognized for its technical ingenuity, craftsmanship and broader understanding of context. Whether giving form to a James Beard Award-winning restaurant/retail concept, creating a home for risk-taking performing arts, or redefining indoor-outdoor living, Mark’s simple yet poetic responses to often complex constraints underscore the role of architecture in generating a culture of place.
An active member of the San Francisco Bay Area arts and design community, Mark is a former chair of the California College of the Arts (CCA) Interior Architecture Department and the Headlands Center for the Arts Board of Trustees.
