Hesham Issa is a Professor of Architecture in the Faculty of Engineering at Cairo University. He was the designer and the chair of undergraduate program in Architecture and Building Technology, a new program established in 2005. He is also a visiting scholar at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies, at University of California at Berkeley since 2011, and a former associate researcher at CEDR, CED, University of California, Berkeley from 1997-1999. Issa is also an Executive Board member for IASTE, CED, University of California, Berkeley. He was instrumental in establishing the Berkeley in Egypt program, an exchange program hosted by the Faculty of Engineering at Cairo University and supported by the U.C. Berkeley College of Environmental Design. His research interest is focused on Design practice, from Design thinking to buildings Construction. In 2001, Issa founded a Cairo Based IEDG + Partners in 2001. The firm is designer of many Governmental building in Cairo and the Middle East. Issa holds a PhD and MSc. from Cairo University.
