Erik is a Senior Associate and licensed Landscape Architect at TLS with over ten years of profession experience in the San Francisco Bay Area, Boston, and New York City. Erik brings a broad skill set to TLS, accomplished in the construction of complex urban landscapes with a proficiency in landscape planning. Erik has worked as lead designer and project manager for numerous TLS projects, including Minneapolis Riverfirst, St. Petersburg Pier, and Hunters Point Shipyard. Prior to joining TLS, he was an Associate at Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates and Stoss working as a designer and project manager on various award-winning projects including Brooklyn Bridge Park, the Lower Don Lands, Syracuse Movement on Main, and The Plaza at Harvard University.
Erik’s expertise is on the planning and design of urban waterfronts and he finds inspiration in leveraging the performance characteristics of topography along with water’s material, botanical and social index. He has taught planning and urban design studios at Northeastern University and the University of Berkeley, and has been a visiting critic at the Harvard Graduate School of Design and the University of Toronto. He holds a BS in Landscape Architecture from Colorado State University and graduated with distinction from the Harvard Graduate School of Design with a Masters of Landscape Architecture where he received the Jacob Weidenman award for excellence in design.
