Role Before Joining MRED+D: Project Engineer and Coordinator, Sun Hung Kai Properties Ltd.

Born and raised in a small industrial city in mainland China, Victor Xu obtained his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a minor in Arabic Language from The University of Hong Kong. After his graduation, he served in one of the largest real estate developers of Hong Kong as a structural design engineer for 5 years, during which time he was responsible for conducting structure design, tender assessment, construction management, and coordination with various parties during project operation.

Throughout his service in the company, he gained his professional qualifications as a chartered structural engineer as well as a management professional. The most recent project he was involved in was a high-end recreational and residential development in Hong Kong which has a gross floor area of 218,000 square meters. Throughout his service in the company, Victor has been striving to find feasible, economical, and sustainable solutions to create a more satisfying environment for all individuals the company is going to serve. Having been in Hong Kong for almost a decade, where the wealth disparity is extremely high, he has come to realize that in an era of rapid growth, ensuring geographically balanced development together with sustainable growth, vigorous regeneration, and a fair distribution of wealth requires much more than engineering knowledge. Victor joins the MRED+D program looking forward to studying the latest trends in real estate development and getting inspired for potential solutions to achieve his ultimate goal.
