Role Before Joining MRED+D: Billboard Developer, Mesa Outdoor
Mike McCoy joins the Berkeley MRED+D program from Danville, CA. After graduating from UC Davis and working in consulting, Mike started a billboard development and advertising company with a fellow classmate from Davis. Mike is attracted to real estate's permanence and the opportunity it provides to build a legacy of useful and attractive projects. Mike's work experience has primarily been in developing billboards on public and private properties adjacent to California highways. Together with his business partner, Mike has developed 17 billboards from start to finish across various markets and jurisdictions within the state. His company, Mesa Outdoor, is currently the largest owner and operator of digital billboards in Contra Costa County. Mike enjoys working with other small businesses, and he's proud to have partnered with County Supervisors and Contra Costa Health Services during the pandemic to help get the word out about wearing masks, social distancing, and vaccination sites.
At MRED+D, Mike is hoping to explore different asset classes and become inspired and equipped to contribute to more impactful and essential real estate projects in the Bay Area. Mike enjoys reading, exercising, learning new tricks, sports with his two young boys, and going on lots of trips this summer to make up for lost time!
