Matthew Smith is an architectural designer and LEED AP from Greater Boston with more than a decade of experience working on commercial, residential, and community-focused projects. He also has extensive graduate-level teaching experience in architecture history, urban economics, and urban studies.
Matt is actively involved in his community as a volunteer at the local food pantry and a member of its advisory committee. He also uses his graphic design skills for vote-by-mail initiatives and other voting rights issues. He is passionate about social justice, inclusionary policies, and equitable design.
Matt holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Connecticut College, a Master of Architecture from California College of the Arts, and a Master of City Planning from Boston University. In the MRED+D program, he is excited to explore innovative financing, construction, and placemaking methods that address housing-related issues. By merging design, development, and sustainability, he seeks to create dynamic real estate projects and user experiences.
When he’s not tinkering with designs or thinking about new housing ideas, Matt enjoys exploring art museums, going to concerts, and walking around cities.
