Born and raised in New York City, Louisa has spent her life designing and building for community. With a background in architectural design and civil engineering, she’s worked on hospitals and lab buildings, built infrastructure in eastern Afghanistan, led the fabrication and installation of large community public art sculptures, and designed education interventions for public urban spaces that aim to bring people together. She actively works in all facets of her life to support and build up communities at all scales.
Louisa plans to use what she learns in the MRED+D program to build cities that support the people who comprise them and our planet’s future. She believes in housing as a fundamental right and plans to be a force in ensuring everyone in our cities has that stable ground underneath them so that they can thrive. As a LEED-accredited designer, she knows how vital it is that our built environment incorporates the long-term health and sustainability of our planet. She plans to work creating urban places that are centered on these values.
Louisa lives in a community house in Oakland where she is constantly gathering people together. She loves living in cities but also spends as much time as possible exploring the amazing landscapes of California.
