Role Before Joining MRED+D: Project Coordinator, Marx|Okubo
Joseph worked at Marx|Okubo for the past 3.5 years focusing on property condition assessments of multi-family, hospitality, and commercial buildings to determine project capital reserves, as well as owner representation and construction loan monitoring of new construction and major renovation projects. Prior to M|O, he was a sustainability and research consultant with a focus on developing Climate Action Plans and planning and managing major energy efficiency retrofits for commercial facilities.
Joseph feels real estate is innately interdisciplinary and is constantly influenced by myriad inputs, such as land use policy, sustainability, race and social issues, data science, finance, and affordable housing. These topics, and many others like them, present real world challenges for every individual and community in existence today.
Joseph wants to graduate from the MRED+D program with the knowledge and confidence to transform the real estate industry to be a more equitable and responsible ecosystem. The core curriculum will strengthen his foundation in finance and deepen his understanding of the real estate industry's various inputs, while ultimately preparing him to tackle climate change head-on.
In his spare time, Joseph nurtures his hobbies of ultrarunning, mountain biking, gardening, baking, and making music. He also enjoys live concerts and volunteering within his community.
