Role Before Joining MRED+D: Vice President, Diamond Lake Management
Helen earned her Bachelor’s degree at Tufts University. She has worked for several years since alongside her father, co-leading the design, development and management of her family-owned firm’s mixed-use real estate portfolio. In this role, Helen oversees three existing properties, two in development, and three Property Owners Associations. Outside of her professional role, she has pursued her own education in sustainable development practices, including earning the LEED Green Associate credential. She sees potential for small cities like her hometown of Portland, Maine, to become models in sustainable real estate development, and she hopes that the Berkeley MRED+D program will enable her to prove that potential and prevent smaller cities from getting left behind in the race to a resilient, sustainable future.
Prior to working in real estate, Helen contributed to research at Boston’s New England Aquarium on the effects of climate change in the Gulf of Maine and worked for two years in marketing. In her free time, Helen is an avid scuba diver and reader. She loves spending time outdoors and enjoys long solo walks through city streets.
