- Biography
Elaina Present is a current MS student in the Building Science program as well as in Civil and Environmental Engineering, both at UC Berkeley. She received her BS in Mechanical Engineering from MIT. Prior to UC Berkeley, Elaina worked at Navigant Consulting in support of the U.S. Department of Energy's appliance efficiency standards work. Her focus there was on energy and cost analyses of HVAC and refrigeration equipment for commercial and industrial buildings. At UC Berkeley, Elaina's primary research focuses on the benefits and obstacles of ceiling fans, with particular interest in ceiling fan use in conjunction with other HVAC equipment. Her interests also include occupant behavior, demand response systems, electric grid modernization, and data-based energy analysis.
